Frequently Asked Questions
Can Multiple Carers Be Added?
The Medpage Smartwatch works by allowing a single "guardian" to set themselves up for pairing with the watch. This person can then authorise up to three others to download the application and "join" their party for monitoring and assisting with the care of the user.
Does Everybody Receive a Notification?
In the event that the SOS button is pressed, the "guardian" will receive a phone call. Any other carers who have been authorised to use the application will receive a text message alerting them to the button having been pressed.
What If the Call Isn't Answered?
If the call isn't answered by the first carer, the call will automatically be placed to the next carer until it is answered. All carers will receive a text message each time the SOS button is pressed, alerting them to the emergency or incident.
What If My Internet Is Interrupted?
If your internet drops out or the user walks in an area that does not have a stable mobile connection, you may find that the GPS information you receive on your application is temporarily incorrect or outdated. Because the GPS tracking system relies on a stable internet connection, any disruption or interference to either your WiFi or mobile connection can cause issues with tracking quality.
What Can I Do If My GPS Isn't Working?
If you are monitoring a loved one and are experiencing issues with your GPS, we recommend restarting your application to make sure the internet connection is stable. If this persists, we recommend contacting the watch user to ensure the WiFi/mobile connection on their phone is connected correctly and that they are not in an area where their connection is compromised.
Is There a Radius Limit on the Tracker?
There is no limit on the distance of the track as long as both phones are connected via 3G or 4G signal. This will allow the location to be forwarded to the application, ensure a strong and stable connection is present.
How Accurate Is the GPS Tracker?
Accuracy is estimated at around 10 - 15 metres if the user is indoors and between 5 - 10 metres if the individual is outdoors. Again, this is dependent on the strength and stability of your internet connection or signal.
Accuracy also depends on how frequently the location is set to scan for an updated position. For example, when set to 1 minute intervals the tracker will update its location every 60 seconds, however on 12 hour battery saving mode it will only update its location twice per day.
Will My GPS Tracker Work Abroad?
This depends on the conditions of your SIM card provider. If you are concerned about this, we recommend contacting your network provider for more information.
Can I Use the GPS Tracker Outside of England?
Yes, this tracker can be used in Scotland and Ireland, so long as there is a good signal.
Can I Change the SIM Card to One from Another Brand?
Yes, it is possible to change the SIM card used in the Medpage GPS watch.
