| Finding the Right Care Call Signwave PIR Monitor Kit for You27 January 2016 | John Ensuring that those under your care don’t wander and hurt themselves is incredibly important, so the PIR Movement Monitor is a great sensor to base your bundle around. If you are unsure whether you need a movement monitor, please return to our guide to finding the perfect Signwave Kit or back to the guide to finding your perfect Care Call Kit. Step Four: Choosing Additional SensorsNow that you know you want to centre your Signwave kit around the PIR monitor, it’s time to choose what additional sensors you want in your kit. If you just want a kit with the Signwave and the PIR Movement Monitor, this is the kit for you: The PIR sensor detects movement and alerts the Signwave. It’s great for using down the side of a bed to detect if someone is leaving their bed without help – helping to reduce the risk of bed falls by enabling you to come to their help quickly. Carbon Monoxide DetectionYou can also get the Signwave PIR kit with a Care Call Carbon Monoxide Alarm:
Carbon monoxide (CO) is an incredibly dangerous substance. It’s odourless and colourless, making it impossible to detect naturally, and it can kill very easily. The Carbon Monoxide Alarm constantly monitors the levels of CO in the air and immediately alerts the SIgnwave if the levels become too high. This enables you to quickly act for the safety of those under your care. Smoke DetectionThe Signwave PIR Kit is also available with a Care Call Smoke Alarm:
The Care Call Smoke Alarm will automatically alert the Sigwave if it detects any smoke. Like the CO alarm, this helps you quickly act for the safety of those under your care. There are two different types of smoke alarm to choose from – Ionisation and Optical. Ionisation smoke alarms use radiation to detect smoke, and because of this they are incredibly sensitive. While this doesn’t make them great for use near kitchens due to the high risk of false alarms, it does make them great for upper floors, where it is vital that you get as much notice as possible in the event of a fire. Optical smoke alarms use light to detect smoke, and while they aren’t as sensitive as Ionisation alarms they are great for use near kitchens for exactly this reason – higher concentrations of smoke coming from a kitchen are likely indications of a fire, and it’s vital that you know this in the event of such an emergency.
