| Finding the Right Care Call Signwave Smoke Alarm Kit for You27 January 2016 | John Detecting smoke is vital for ensuring the safety of those under your care, so it’s a great focus for your Signwave Kits. The Care Call Smoke Alarm sends a signal to your Signwave and gives you the best chance at being alerted, no matter what impediments you have. If you are unsure whether you need a smoke alarm as part of your kits, please visit our blog on choosing your Signwave alarm kit or alternatively start again with our guide to choosing the right Care Call Kit. Step Three: Choosing Additional SensorsNow that you know you want to base your Care Call Signwave kit around the smoke alarm, it’s time to choose what additional sensors you want in your kit. If you just want to detect smoke, this is the kit for you:
You can choose which type of smoke alarm you want to in your bundle – Ionisation or Optical. Ionisation smoke alarms use radiation to detect smoke and are incredibly sensitive. Because of this, they aren’t a great idea on floors with kitchens where small amounts of smoke aren’t an issue, but are spectacular for other floors where smoke is not normal. Conversely, Optical smoke alarms use light to detect smoke and aren’t as sensitive. For this reason they are ideal for use near kitchens where small particles of smoke aren’t an issue but heavy concentrations are. Motion DetectionIf you also want to use the Signwave to monitor movement, the Care Call Signwave and Smoke Alarm is also available in a kit with a Care Call PIR Movement Monitor. This uses infrared sensors to detect movement, and is ideally suited for use as a bed leaving monitor placed down the side of the bed. What’s more, because it uses infrared to detect movement it can’t be set off by inanimate objects falling off the bed. Magnetic Door SensorAlternatively, you can get the Care Call Signwave and Smoke Alarm in a kit with a Care Call Magnetic Door Monitor.
The door monitor detects when a door or window is opened and alerts the Signwave. One of the main benefits of this is its versatility. You can use it to alert you when someone leaves their room without aid, helping to reduce falls, and you can also use to alert you when those under your care go into rooms or cupboards they shouldn’t. Carbon Monoxide AlarmsYou can also get the Care Call Signwave and Smoke Alarm in a kit with a Care Call Carbon Monoxide Alarm.
The carbon monoxide (CO) alarm monitors the levels of CO in the air and alerts the Signwave if the levels become dangerous. CO is an odourless, colourless gas which can kill easily, so it’s vital to patient safety that you are aware as soon as possible if there is a leak. Panic Alarm FobThe Signwave and Smoke Alarm also comes in a kit with a CO Alarm and a Care Call Key Fob Transmitter.
The fob enables those under your care to alert you if they need help. This is a fantastic addition to any Care Call kit and not only enables patients to get help easily but also helps to reduce the risk of bed and chair falls by eliminating any reason for them to get up. Additional KitsThe Care Call Signwave Smoke Alarm Kits are also available with a CO Alarm and a Magnetic Door Monitor, and with a CO Alarm and a PIR Monitor:
