But when they are prone to falls, there is always the fear an accident will occur and no one will be in earshot to be alerted to the situation. Getting up again from a fall - especially when injured - can be dangerous and waiting for aid is a much better alternative.
With the Fall Detector Watch, help is available at the press of a button. Worn around the wrist at all times, the watch has a manual call button and an automated alarm for when a fall has been detected. The watch connects with the Bosch Carephones and sends an alert to the emergency contacts to ensure aid is on the way.
Features of the Fall Detector Watch
The alarm is made from a waterproof and hypoallergenic plastic, ensuring maximum comfort for the strap to be worn everyday. The alarm can be worn as a watch, allowing it to be discreet. Operated by a 3V lithium battery, the power source can be replaced although should last for up to two years based on a 1-alarm-per-day prediction.
Designed to work with the Bosch Carephones – such as the Bosch Carephone 62 – the alarm has two different codes; help and fall detection. The help mode is operated by pressing the button on the alarm, which connects to the carephones and sends a message. A message is also sent when a significant impact is sensed and a fall has occurred.
False Alarms
The watch combines a radio transmitter with a fall detecting device, reducing false alarms by monitoring the impact and analysing whether an alarm should be sent.
To further reduce false alarms, a pre-alarm vibration alert occurs when a fall has been detected. The automated alarm is triggered after a period of inactivity after an impact has been detected, in case of unconsciousness or immobility. The alarm can be cancelled by moving the arm during the vibration period.
Can I Use the Watch in the Garden or Outside?
The Fall Detector Watch is primarily designed for indoor use, but with a line-of-sight range of 150m, it's suitable for use all over your property. Range will be negatively affected based on how many walls and other surfaces the signal must pass through, but the range should be suitable for use in the garden of the vast majority of properties.
